I think January 2012 was supposed to be the date, but who the heck knows. Mickey and Minnie squeak louder than we do.

I haven't heard when are we losing soapnet? The latest report said sometime in spring 2012.
Spring 2012. That covers a lot of territory. I hope we get more than ten days' notice next time.
Of course, if they pull that off using the same dexterity they displayed today, some people may get blank screens or Disney Jr., but if you leave your TV on and don't change the channel, the SN programming will keep on coming!

I've been wondering too, how long SN will remain in existence.
The original January date was bumped up to June, I read somewhere(was it here on this board?!)
I wish they would just let it be, and keep airing the older episodes of AMC, GH and OLTL-my fav of the three.
Somehow it doesn't seem fair, or very nice to get people hooked on another time line(the reruns) then poof! They will just disappear, as the current AMC did, and OLTL will all too soon.
But I know....'fair or nice' are not why Networks exist, or air anything in the first place.
But still..... They should have just kept airing RH for as long as SN exists. ;D

Maybe they are rethinking the need for another dedicated kids station. There are so many Already.

It's not exactly like they would be addressing a hole in the market; more like they would be crowding the already numerous options.

I have to admit that I've watched the "classic" episodes of OLTL on occasion but I always DVR and then fast forward through most of it. I've even taken Soapnet off my favorite channels list.

If you notice, OLTL ends in January. It is pre-empted here in NY so often for "breaking non-news" that it's almost easier to just set it to record on SN. That's the only time I ever watch SN. As long as SN still is the back-up to the ABC schedule, it's a good thing. After that, I really don't care.

That's the reason I watch(record) soaps on SN, Cheryl. No interruptions, ever. I was going to say when SN goes off air, it will be a drag to have to watch the ABC soaps-actually on ABC! Only because are all to often, they are preempted.
But I forgot! They will not exist on ABC. (AMC AND OLTL). As far as GH goes, I am soooo tired of 'Mobster Hospital' I only leave it on, as background on SN, when OLTL is done, then GH starts.
As the sole soap left, GH is the worst(IMO) of the ABC's three. It's really too bad, as that show was so great, and has such a rich history. But The Sonny/Jason hour has taken over for years now, and it's just not my cup of tea.

You can watch GH on the ABC website; these geniuses finally realized you can fast forward through a recorded program, but not online. That makes you a captive audience for the ads. As I said when they closed down the message boards six months ago, they'd rather have you exposed to ads on ABC than on SN, where they could only sell a few, minor ads (Groupon and Capella University are the only two I remember.) It really is less about what people want to see, and more about what the marketers want you to see.

Hi Cheryl Lynn, Since as I said, GH is so far from being my cup of tea, that I don't care what they are advertising! (I'll take reruns of Irish tea-as in RH any day!! ) The reason I hear dialogue from current GH, (I really don't watch, as I am always doing something else when it's on), and GH comes on just after OLTL, on SN. For the most part I DO enjoy OLTL, a lot, (although I so miss Dorien, it's not the same without her.) Years ago, I loved the Anna Devane/Duke Lavery pairing on GH. Both actors are so talented, and they did an amazing tango! Finola Hughes(Anna) could have won on DWTS, if it had been on air then!! Even thought Duke's business dealings were quite dubious, which made the audience not very sure as to whether he was a 'good or bad' guy. But he was nothing like the out right blatant mobsters of today's GH. I cannot fathom how Jason, a hit man(!!) is seen as a romantic lead?! Kelly Monaco is cute, but I just can't route for her character to find happiness, ever after with a hit man, (Ugh.) (I know that Jason has tons of fans, though.) Since Sonny Corinthos, (oh gee, I don't know if you watch GH, so you may have no idea who I am talking about!) .....But if you do....every since Sonny-at point blank range-shot Dante in the chest, (and Dante barley made it), that was the point of no return for me, regarding Sonny. To insult the viewers more, (IMO) is Sonny's 'defense' was, "I didn't know he was my son, or I would not have done that." But Dante would of course be someone else's son, Mr. Narcissist, creepy Sonny! (It feels good to rant, as I don't write on other soap boards, and since this show too, has a rumored expiration date-of sometime next year-I may as well talk about what is so wrong with this current soap-IMO.) Plus, there is a big RH connection to Sonny, so I am not really OT right?, That connection is that Clair Labine, (during her stint as head writer on GH), created the character of Sonny. I just can't imagine her intending him to be a full fledged killer. It's of course, only my opinion, but I would imagine(or would like to think,) that she pictured him more as a "Joe Novak redeaux". The typical 'bad' guy with a good heart. Still not my type though-I'll take cranky Jack Fenelli over mobsters any day! Oh! Don't worry sweet Cheryl Lynn Doll , I know that Jack is ALL yours . -Echo-

It is odd isn't it, that SN is showing older episodes every day, so that their viewers can get hooked on the SL's, then as you so rightfully said, just yank them off air! In a way-even if SN does not know it (!! ;D ), "Ryan's Hope" is their 'signature show. As it is the ONLY show that has aired since SN premiered, was that in 2000? And has remained airing for all of the years SN has! So to yank it of six months, or perhaps several more before they will no longer exist, is just silly! (imo) There could still be room for RH, even if they wanted to air 'classic' episodes of all three ABC soaps, in the middle of the night. They could even just shown one episode of RH a day, instead of two. Airing one episode on the weekend, would would have better than no RH at all! Soaps are in such a state of flux, on all sides, today. I'm just glad I got to enjoy them during their Golden Era. -Echo-

Maybe they are rethinking the need for another dedicated kids station. There are so many Already. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I've thought about that too, Judy. Although I would hardly get my hopes up, perhaps SN is playing these older shows of all three of ABC's soaps, to see if people will watch them. It would be great to have a REAL classic Soap Network-how ironic that would be if if turned out to be SOAPNET!! (after the roller coaster ride soap fans have been taken on!) -Echo-

All they would have to do is just air one marathon for GH. Why do they need two the exact same GH marathons airing back to back? That second five hours would be a perfect spot to air 10 RH episodes and people could DVR and watch them during the week. I think we should all write to ABC/SN and suggest this to them and let them know we still want our RH.
