CJ Cregg (Allison Janney) smokin' as she sings The Jackal
It is going to be hot here all week – thought it appropriate to begin with this.
Toby: "Don't talk to me during The Jackal."

Marianne, if you feel well enough to launch into 154 episodes of great drama plus a lot of humor (or vice versa) I'd say dig in while you are recuperating. It is an incredible show. I did not watch in the beginning because it was "the cool thing" to watch in DC in those days. I never want to ride a trend. Eventually I realized it was a different version of Sports Night, with all the same wonderful Sorkin dialog between witty, intelligent, capable people who talked as they walked down long hallways.

Christian Bale is the guy with the red neckerchief. Bill Pullman, who I always confuse with The Newsroom's Jeff Daniels, can be seen briefly looking on the scene.
This version has Spanish subtitles, but it was the clearest of the YouTube choices. Ole'!

Since we've now admitted that we are seeing leaves change color, here's Nat King Cole singing Autumn Leaves.
This is the note on youtube:
Nat King Cole's rendition of this classic song.
"Autumn Leaves" is a much-recorded popular song. Originally a 1945 French song "Les feuilles mortes" (literally "Dead Leaves") with music by Joseph Kosma and lyrics by poet Jacques Prévert, English lyrics were written in 1947 by the American songwriter Johnny Mercer. It has become a pop standard and a jazz standard in both languages, and as an instrumental. "Les feuilles mortes" was introduced by Yves Montand in 1946 for the film Les Portes de la Nuit.
The film Autumn Leaves (1956) starring Joan Crawford featured the song, which was sung by Nat King Cole over the title sequence. The French songwriter Serge Gainsbourg wrote "La chanson de Prévert" as a tribute to this song

Thanks for the song and the notes.
Even though hearing NKC makes me feel a bit melancholy, the beautiful autumn images remind me there is much to look forward to...

If someone could chopper me in and have a comfy couch set up and waiting (doesn't have to be front row) I would definitely go! I think those boys have beautiful harmonies.
So interesting that the free daily concerts this year interested me more than the ones people are paying $60+ for at The Grandstand.
The 4 things I have to have while AT The Fair are the $1.00 baked potato, the 25cent ice cold Byrne Dairy chocolate milk, the Walter White's prime rib sandwich and a maple sno cone.
The must have take home items are warm pizza fritte (funnel cake) which usually doesn't make it out of the parking lot and a jumbo bag of maple cotton candy (spun from pure maple sugar).

Holy cow!!! I need a shot of insulin just reading that list. Must say I'm craving a prime rib Sammy now. I've never had a funnel cake...trying to imagine what a pizza funnel cake looks and tastes like.
