What was she thinking when she brought that big thing into that tiny apartment? Johnny even told her to do some measuring. I swear that she does stuff like that just to be irritating.

She did find space to wedge it in, just not to Jack's liking. I'm on Mary's side on this; she needed storage, she found it for free, and found a way to haul it in. Jack should have been pleased at her gumption. LOL Although, really, she should have went to the dime store to buy one of those cardboard dressers as a stopgap solution. Or an under-the-bed box, for crying out loud. You should have seen my spouse's tiny apartment after I moved into it. Even the cat was cramped. Jack's apartment at least has a stove.

They should have done one of those platform beds - you know, high enough off the ground to walk underneath - they could have had a whole closet underneath. Or maybe curtains around the "legs" for Mary to hide behind so she won't crowd Jack. (hee hee)

When I saw the title of this thread, my strange mind pictured 'a dresser' as being a person who helps an actress dress for a performance.
So, in this case, Mary had a huge dresser ~ and she didn't like being called that! She wasn't huge, just big boned. Or fluffy.]

Not much ever is to Jack's liking, lol. Ain't that the truth. And then he'll like something, but 10 minutes later won't like it. I love Jack ... * sigh*

What was she thinking when she brought that big thing into that tiny apartment? Johnny even told her to do some measuring. I swear that she does stuff like that just to be irritating. I absolutely loved Mary the first time around. I think when I was in my twenties, I generally thought that men were usually in the wrong. I know that sounds harsh but my dad wasn't a nice person at that time, and my mother put him first all the time. I probably thought that Mary was spunky Now Mary reminds me of Lucy Ricardo. A man who has to adjust to sharing his space is going to flip out when he sees that huge dresser (which I thought was beautiful). Mary was sort of hiding on the balcony, peeking at Jack for a minute. Does Jack live upstairs, or does he have a garden apartment? That dresser is probably real wood. If the guys were going to go to the trouble of bringing to Jack's and Mary's home, why didn't they push it into the wall? Nothing like leaving the dressing in the way, right in the middle of the room, to show Jack how nice it looks. Mary knows that Jack isn't going to chuckle--like Ricky Ricardo chuckled at Lucy. I'd think, because Mary is from a large family, that she'd give a thought about Jack's feelings before she barrels ahead, making decisions without consulting with him. Jack should be making room for Mary; that's for sure. It's usually better for a couple to get their own new place, instead of moving somewhere that already belongs to one of them. Marsha

I think that Mary shouldn't have moved in at all. They were so much better with him living in his home and her living in her home - and dating.

It's such a realistic conflict. On a sit com it would have made for some hilarious scenes: the bureau she dragged in was soo big. But let's face it, two people in a tiny studio and one was the long term tenant and so kind of "owns" the space, that's a recipe for conflict.

Marsha[/quote] ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Marsha, Also the age difference really comes out in these conflicts too. Jack has to accomodate Mary on virtually every aspect of day to day living because Mary does not understand the man she is married to! Puca

It's a walk-up. When Jack is recuperating from his accident, they can't go back home because he wouldn't have been able to get up the stairs. So they go to the parents', which already has that stair lift.

I'm surprised that Mary didn't put it near the door so that it blocked the entrance. Mary acts like she's looking for a fight. You want to complain about one or two little drawers? I'll give you something to complain about.

In real life they would have to move to a bigger place. A studio is not conducive to a happy home life especially if it initially belonged to one of the pair.

I really think Mary should just move back home. They are best when they are dating. (Yes, I know they are married, but if they live apart, it would be as if they were still dating. Think of the marriage as what it really is - just a formality on Jack's part to get "Dah" off his back.)

Of course when they were dating, Mary slept at Jack's apt., ate there, and showered there (I presume.) She only went home to do her laundry (I presume) so yes, it was a better situation for everyone (except Johnny, I presume.)

Don't you think that counts for something~?~
