Bernard Barrow (Johnny)
December 1975
Bernard Barrow, who plays Johnny Ryan on Ryan's Hope, is an actor who believes in delving into the background of the characters he plays. Johnny Ryan is the owner-operator of the restaurant and bar and Barrow plays many of his scenes behind the show's working bar. To get the right feel for the bar tending scenes, he spent several nights as an apprentice bartender at a midtown Manhattan bar.

Faith Catlin (Faith #1)
September 1975
Some upcoming episodes of Ryan's Hope may remind viewers of some of television gourmet cooking shows. The colorful, modern, and efficiently designed kitchen set of the Coleridge family brownstone is as practical as it is attractive. Faith Catlin, who plays Faith Coleridge is an amateur gourmet cook and the writers of the show have added some cooking parts in some of the segments.

Kathleen Tolan (Mary #3)

Playwright Kathleen Tolan: Success - it's all dessert. Fame doesn't mean a thing, though it may help me get my next play produced. I'm interested in using theater to explore this life were living.

While sometimes it may have been questionable that Ken George Jones was a rock singer -- I guess Trent had a rock-n-roll past.

As always, THANKS Safe!
Interesting - but I still remember my disbelief when I saw TJ as KGJ on the veranda of The Crystal Palace for the first time. "Rock Star" took on a whole new meaning -
"Pirates Of Penzance Star" was WAY more believable, IMHO

Also look for several mini-series, one of which is called “Single”, which will revolve around four single young women. It's being developed by Claire Labine, who co-created “Ryan's Hope”.

Elvera Roussel (Hope on Guiding Light, 1979- 1983)
May 1980
After a year off acting during which she studied interior design (a career, incidentally, Hope maintains when she isn't mooning over Alan), Elvera returned to California for several guest shots on “Fantasy Island” and other nighttime fare. She auditioned and was called back as a replacement for the original Delia on “Ryan's Hope”, but “GL” cast her first.

April 1975
A surprising shift of writers may have a dramatic effect on one of daytime's oldest and most popular daytime serials. The top writers of CBS' “Love of Life” have resigned. Claire Labine and Paul Avila Mayer have left CBS to work for ABC on a new soap opera scheduled to start in September. “Love of Life” fans may begin to notice change of writers effective with the episode of June 2.

May 1985
NBC's brand new soap debuts July 30, in the 3-4 timelsot (eastern time) replacing Match Game and Hollywood squares. No word on cast for the hour long soap, which will tape in Los Angeles, and do remotes in Santa Barbara.
Involved in the show will be Bridget and Jerome Dobson who've written several soaps including “General Hospital”, The Doctors” , “As the World Turns” and “Guiding Light”, but have never created a serial. The show is being produced by the Dobsons.
Paul Avila Mayer, who along with Claire Labine created “Ryan's Hope”, will be the third party involved with this new show.
