Pat said that didn't have to happen? Of course it did -- Delia was pregnant when he was fighting and bleeding with his parents over what he should do about the pregnancy. Maeve (in episode 728) and Pat both talk like Delia wasn't pregnant when the family turmoil occurred -- but she still was!

I agree that Pat had a responsibility for his child, but marrying Delia( pregnant or not) was dumb!!! Children suffer more when parents act the way that Pat and Delia were acting when he was tired of her. I really resented Johnny and Mave for making him do that when they knew it would almost destroy him. However, Delia is not totally at fault. Pat was the most stupid man, that I have seen on soaps. He knew what Delia did to Frank and he walked right in and sat right down. Too bad, his chair cracked and he tried to hold himself in a broken chair with just his hands. No wonder he turned to drugs for the pain.

He sure had a painful lesson to learn -- but this was probably the only way it could have been done -- to finally free him from rescuing Delia. In his blog radio interview from a few years ago - - Malcolm Groome said - - about this - - was that Pat was too nice and sacrificed himself when it really wasn't the right thing to do.

MG confided, that he did not smoke or do drugs. But that he did occasionally take a drink of alcohol. Assuming that it is liquor, I don't know what "substance" abuse, one blogger was referring. To some eagle-eyed viewers, commented, that MG, looked "stoned" when he appeared in some of the episodes on RH.

In the few different roles of his that I have seen, I have never heard a southern accent.
