Thomas Edward Lawson's body departed this Earth some days ago, but his SPIRIT and LEGACY live on.
If it had not been for this most amazing man, so many life connections would have been lost. Some may have never even been realized.
THANK YOU, Tom, for your presence to us, the gift of your remembrance and the gift of continually reminding us to move forward.
Tom's passing brought two things to mind to me personally. IMHO, his life and work exuded the quote by William Butler Yeats: "There are no strangers - only friends you haven't yet met." THANKS for that gift of Friendship and Community that you always embodied, MSO488! Your quiet wisdom is so sorely missed.
And secondly, this link is to the song played at Tim Russert's memorial 5 years ago. (I thought the connections were quite fitting):
God Speed, Tom! (Please keep a look out for us up there, won't you??)
XO, Marianne

It sounds as though some former/new members are having trouble logging into the Board. We know you are with us in spirit in remembering Tom today...

Love your quote, Marianne, by William Butler Yeats about strangers only being friends we haven't met yet. And Blondie, so approrpriate to go rest high on that mountain.
Let me add:
Though nothing can bring back the hour Of splendor in the grass, of glory in the flower; We will grieve not, rather find Strength in what remains behind.
William Wordsworth
Lighting a candle for you, Tom, RIP

Thank you for the song Marianne.
From this day forward every time I see a rainbow I will think of Tom.
No one is ever truly gone as long as they are remembered.....

Here is an Irish Prayer.
Longing For One More Day When we lose someone we love it seems that time stands still. What moves through us is a silence... a quiet sadness... A longing for one more day... one more word... one more touch... We may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget. We will see you again some day, in a heavenly place where there is no parting. A place where there are no words that mean good-bye.

Thanks to you Tom. For all you have given us, this beautiful board where, we as today, can come to tell our troubles or a funny story. Or just to come by to take a seat and kick off your shoes and relax. Have a cuppa coffee or your favorite drink of choice. He gave us a "HOME". How can you thank someone for that special of a gift ? Tom, i love you, for all you did for us & gave to us. You have become a beacon to us all! Today we all Light that beacon in your memory. My candle is lit, and will remain shining brightly in my heart, till the day we see each other again, my friend. You will be dearly missed, but never forgotten.
My friend forever, Nila

I want to honor Tom for his service to our country, serving in the Navy for many years. I'm also thankful that he created this board for us which began as an ode to Ryan's Hope and became a wonderful community of friends who share each other's joys and pains.
Rainbows, Susan

My candle was going. Then a few minutews ago we had a little quake. Just a jolt and nothing more. But I thought it might be a good time to douse the flame.
So thank you Safe for putting up a candle we can all enjoy in honor of Tom.

I didn't know Tom or converse with him on this board but I did read his posts and try his recipes. What an inspirational man. He touched so many lives..... I wish I could have known him better. I am thinking of him and his family today.

Rest in peace, Tom Lawson, you will be missed by so many. You added so much to not only the Ryan's Hope community but to a lot of people everywhere. Although we never met in person, I felt that I knew you through reading your posts and exchanging emails, and that you were a kindred spirit. Hoping to meet you in the Hereafter.

For Tom who gave so much of himself to his country, this board and sooooo many others. I think he touched more lives than any other person I have ever known.......and that is known as a life well lived. Good night my dear friend, until we meet again....... Courtesy of the US Navy...
