Christmas music was heard in my home today, for the first time this year, when my granddaughter came over with her mother's new Kelly Clarkson's album. My granddaughter wants me to sing the songs with her -- but I have to learn the words to some of them because the newer songs are the ones she wants to sing.
Of all the songs on the album - - this is her current favorite! I've given up trying to figure out the mind of a three -almost four- year old

John Gabriel & Scott Holmes
December 1994
You can fill the house with beautiful Christmas music with a CD or tape of Soap Opera Christmas. Every few years, Christmas albums featuring the stars are put out, and to be honest, when we play most of them, our cat goes into hiding. But this album, produced by John Gabriel (Seneca on Ryan's Hope) and released by RCA, is glorious. The rendition by Scott Holmes (Tom on As the World Turns) of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas is to die for. Peter Bergmann (Jack on The Young and the Restless) does a fine dramatic reading of the true spirit of Christmas, and a group of soap-opera youngsters sing a holiday medley. It is a wonderful album. The last time I played it, my cat sat by the CD player and purred. The recording is available in record stores such as Camelot.
1. Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas - Scott Holmes 2. Medley- O Come All Ye Faithful/ Joy To The World - Martha Byrne 3. White Christmas - Brad Maule 4. We Should Be Together For Christmas - Tamara Tunie 5. I'll Be Home For Christmas - Scott Thompson-Baker 6. The Baby Jesus/Ave Maria - Peter Bergman/Eva La Rue 7. Some Children See Him/Who Will Give Christmas - A. Marshall/Lisa Peluso/Rachel Miner/Tom Michaels 8. Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! - Diana Barton/Scott Reeves 9. Merry Christmas, Darling - Tonja Walker 10. Grown Up Christmas List - Randy Brooks 11. Merry Christmas Wherever You Are/Season's Greet... - The Soaps And Hearts Ensemble 12. What Are You Doing New Year's Eve - Robyn Griggs

Ray Davies' Thanksgiving Day
Are you going on Thanksgiving Day To those family celebrations? Passing on knowledge down through the years At the gathering of generations
Every year it's the same routine All over, all over Come on over, it's the Thanksgiving Day
Papa looks over at the small gathering Remembering days gone by Smiles at the children as he watches them play And wishes his wife was still by his side
She would always cook dinner on Thanksgiving Day It's all over, it's all over, it's all over the American way But sometimes the children are so far away
And in a dark apartment on the wrong side of town A lonely spinster prays For a handsome lover and a passionate embrace And kisses all over, all over, all over her American face It's all over, it's all over, it's all over
'Cause today she feels so far away From the friends in her hometown So she runs for the Greyhound She'll spend hours on the bus But she'll reach town for Thanksgiving Day
Come on over, come on over Come on over, it's Thanksgiving Day Come on over, come on over Come on over, come on over Come on over, it's Thanksgiving Day
At a truck stop a man sits alone at the bar Estranged in isolation It's been a while now and he seems so far From those distant celebrations
He thinks back to all the mistakes that he made To a time when he was so young and green Innocent days when they both looked forward to that Great American dream
Now it's all over, it's all over, all over And all over America people are going home On Thanksgiving Day
Now Papa looks out of the window The sight brings a smile to his face He sees all his children coming back home Together on this special day
Come on over, come on over Come on over, it's Thanksgiving Day Come on over, come on over Come on over, it's Thanksgiving Day
Come on over, come on over Come on over, it's Thanksgiving Day Come on over, come on over Come on over, it's Thanksgiving Day

Yes, they were Andy's brothers - they performed together, professionally, for a number of years.

Thanksgiving Song- Mary Chapin Carpenter
Grateful for each hand we hold Gathered round this table. From far and near we travel home, Blessed that we are able.
Grateful for this sheltered place With light in every window, Saying "welcome, welcome Share this feast Come in away from sorrow."
Father, mother, daughter, son, Neighbor, friend and friendless; All together everyone In the gift of loving-kindness.
Grateful for whats understood, And all that is forgiven; We try so hard to be good, To lead a life worth living.
Father, mother, daughter, son, Neighbor, friend, and friendless; All together everyone Let grateful days be endless.
Grateful for each hand we hold Gathered round this table

The Bells of St. Mary's - Andy Williams
This song appears on Christmas albums - - not sure why that is -- but the line about red leaves falling usually makes me think it is also appropriate for an autumn holiday like Thanksgiving.
The bells of St. Mary's I hear they are calling the young loves, the true loves who come from the sea
And so my beloved when red leaves are falling the love bells shall ring out, ring out for you and me
The bells of St Mary's I hear they are calling the young loves, the true loves who come from the sea
And so my beloved when red leaves are falling the love bells shall ring out, ring out for you and me
