Been having computer issues -- so yesterday's shows were the first I've seen in over a week - - it was wonderful to see Sally Gracie's debut as Martha. I remember her from her later role on One Life to Live -- Ina Hopkins -- who ran a boarding house where OLTL characters lived.

That would be wonderful if they picked up other soaps.

Bernard Barrow (Johnny) was in today's second episode (February 2, 1968) -- without toupee and wearing glasses - quite a nice surprise to see him.

Loved Matt's speech to the board!
Another surprise - - seeing Hector Elizondo as a waiter. Hector married Carolee Campbell (Carolee) in 1969 -- so I wonder if that was how he got this extra role –- through her. Too bad they didn't share any screen time.

Wow! The Doctors is now on in the evening! RTV is running it at 9pm and 9:30 pm. in addition to noon and 12:30. Could it be that it was so popular that they added it to their evening lineup? I sure hope so. In my area DOOL and Y&R are shown at noon and 12:30; my DVR only tapes two programs at a time. I would hope that the added exposure will bring us closer to them airing another vintage soap or two.

Thanks so much. I am hooked. What a great show. I much prefer the older style of soaps. Love it.

Hi ! I`ve been away for a while, but I still love RH. I`ve been watching and enjoying the RH episodes with Kate Mulgrew which are posted on Youtube. I adore Michael Levin`s portrayal of Jack Fenelli. I`m excited about The Doctors being shown on Antenna TV. I loved Steve and Carolee. My Mom watched the NBC soaps and I would watch The Doctors during Summer and Christmas vacations during the early 1970`s when I was in high school. My Mother kept me informed on what was happening when I was unable to watch because I was in school. Could you please send me the link to watch The Doctors? I hope all of you have a Happy New Year. God Bless. Lorraine

Hector Elizondo again (however, still not any screen time with Carolee Campbell ) and Natalie Ross (later Greg Nelson's mom, Enid, on All my Children) as the frazzled housewife talking to Maggie

Althea is a saint! How she puts up with his temper is beyond me. Groomzilla! Loved the dresses, gloves, flowers, hairstyles.

A photo of Nancy Barrett (Faith #2) and David O'Brien (Charles Whitehall, 1984) when they were both on The Doctors (Nancy as Kathy Ryker #2 and David Dr. Steve Aldrich) in the early 1970's.

Great picture--thanks! Dr. Steve sure is leaning on Carolee for support--hope they get together. On another note, it's amazing how many times Nick's and Dr. Powers' advice to a patient is to "Rest!", "get some rest," etc. The phrase has been repeated through auto accidents, operations, post-kidnappings, hangovers--it just makes me laugh!

Yes, looking forward to watching Steve and Carolee develop.
SPOILER
Also, curious to see at what point Elizabeth Hubbard leaves the show in 1969.

Wow, today's episodes (6/1)had sitings of icons of soap stars before they were famous! Susan Lucci (Erica Kane AMC) was in the first episode as a patient in the clinic. It was not a speaking part, but she appeared twice as Mrs. Ford. In the second episode, Joseph Mascola (Stefano DiMera DOOL) played a policeman who finds Penny alone in the park. He'll be returning her to Althea and Nick in tomorrow's episodes.

Ted Danson recalls his two-day stint on The Doctors in 1977.
boisestatepublicradio.org/post/coffee-dates-and-dropped-cue-cards-ted-dansons-path-cheers
From cologne, Danson graduated to soaps — shows like Somerset and The Doctors. Danson says it still haunts him to this day.
"It was the nightmare, you know. The actor's nightmare, doing a soap opera," he says. "You got the lines the night before, there was nothing natural about them, they were all kind of repetitive. And back then, you couldn't stop tape. A wall could fall, and you did not stop."
In The Doctors, Danson was cast as Mitch Pierson, a calm, cool doctor who breaks news to a family that its daughter has a terminal illness.
But Danson's first day on set was the opposite of calm and cool. Worried about the rigors of taping a soap opera, he had a nervous breakdown.
"I called a friend and he said, 'Take a Valium,' " Danson says. "So I took a Valium, and Valium and I don't work very well together. So I was pouring sheets of sweat, trying to be cool and reassure this family who's looking at me like, 'Dear God, I hope this actor makes it.' "
He wasn't remembering his lines so he was relying on the cue cards. That is, until the guy holding his cue card dropped it.
"It wafted like a paper airplane right onto my lap," Danson says.
It was out of frame, so they kept rolling. Danson, drenched in sweat and looking straight down at his lines, just kept going.
"Really scary stuff," he says. "Clearly I was not a huge success. Thumb through the soap opera magazines, you will not find me."
Danson lasted two episodes on The Doctors. But soaps launched him into film; he starred in the 1979 movie The Onion Field and Body Heat two years later.
