Hi Safe, I enjoyed watching Gordon Thomson as the original Adam Carrington on DYNASTY.

Yeah, it was great that he landed on Dynasty.
He has a real good attitude about his short-lived RH stint -- he said that when he was playing Ari-- that even he knew that the Merit Kerah story did not belong on a show like Ryan's Hope.

I can see why he would say Merit Kara didn't belong on RH, but I loved it lol. I think it was actually realistic given RH is set in NYC. Too bad the resolution of the s/l isn't available--1982 RH is nowhere to be found, ugh!
If any s/l seemed out of place it was that "Proud and The Passionate" soap-within-a-soap lol!

Back then, my other soaps where going more with more outlandish and campy story lines so I wanted RH to remain down-to-earth and a little more in reality.
It probably didn't help that the damsel-in-distress stories (and seeing Faith back in her in her usual Perils of Pauline mode with Merit Karah) -- wasn't my thing.
"The Proud and the Passionate" was interesting with the little tidbits about behind the scenes of a soap opera but that was about it-- and nice seeing Judith Barcroft again.
Labine & Mayer were thrilled with the possibilities of these two story lines -- and neither were accepted well by the audience or even the RH cast.

I guess I just feel people like ABW, Shepard Smith, and characters like them who are obsessed with antiquities and art are very common to the NYC milleu.
I think The Proud and The Passionate would have been better if it had involved Barbara's rival Pamela in her own s/l, maybe a romance with Roger. Instead he was stuck with boring Nancy Drew EJ Ryan lol.
I would have loved Kim to have gotten a role on The Proud and The Passionate lol! Barbara was too needy and boring to carry the whole s/l

That's true -- and Labine and Mayer were great at writing about all the different and unusual types of people in the city.

Agree! was my favorite story line too. I want the rest of the story 1982. Soap Net never got that far. Not even a recap. There must be something out there.
