Hi everyone! A bit of trivia here.. I've found two instances in RH where x-rated movies are mentioned. When I think of RH NYC in the 70's I think of Times Square, hookers, pimps, and porno theaters, and how little coverage they got on the show for some odd reason. It seems like bored housewives would have been a natural target audience for those themes, but go figure. Let's see.. Siobahn goes undercover as a hooker at one point and Kim gets arrested under suspicion of being a hooker, but I think that's about it. We've also got Michael Fairman playing Nick Szabo's drug dealing twin that looks like a 70's pimp who sells Ken George Jones smack. We've also got Carey Gold's incredible score that sounds like Bernard Hermann's Taxi Driver soundtrack. Other than that am I missing anything? Anyway, Frank #1 asks if Dee took Little John to a porno when he's layed up in the hospital the first time, and Faith #4 suggests to Bob that they go to a porno when she's drunk. Therefore Faith and Frank the Plank were meant for each other, even though I think all the Faiths come across as extremely frigid except Catherine Hicks (who was a living doll and had the best wardrobe and hair of all the Faiths). Just thought I'd pass that along!

Interesting topic!
All I could think of was when Delia dragged Pat to a movie after her release from the psyche ward and it appeared to be a porn movie-- which Pat slept through but Delia was fascinated
Not a movie-- but Tom Desmond was jogging one evening with images appearing of parts of the city where he was supposedly was running past and he passed The Pussycat Cinema!

I have to look those up now. You have a great memory!
RH is generally pretty tame, but I think the most suggestive RH moment was when Pat and Bucky were talking about taking the houseboat down to Poughkeepsie to hook up with some girl Pat knew and Pat actually made "boob hands" and rolled his eyes as they got on the elevator. They started off with Pat as more of a cassanova but by the time Pat #2 takes over he's a bit of a simperer, if that's even a word. I prefer the jukebox groovin free love swinging Pat. And getting down to that instrumental generic rock soundtrack like I'm sure all the kids were doing back then.
But speaking of location footage, does anyone do google map searches of addresses that get mentioned? I do it all the time. I found where Siobahn and Joe had their house and noticed their supposedly amazing view of the river was nonexistent. Also, remember when Little John walked to Jill's apartment? Her address was way over on the southern end of Manhattan. If Ryan's is over by Riverside Dr then there's no way a 6 year old kid is walking all the way over to Jill's, especially in a matter of minutes. Also Seneca, Rae, Kim, Wes, Elliot and Michael keep going over to the Cafe Budapest, and I found a single "Budapest Cafe" in Manhattan, but it doesn't look like an upscale restaurant as depicted. And was looking up some of the businesses used in the chromakey driving shots and coulden't find a Champ's pizza but did find several Champion's Pizzas in NYC, so I wonder if they are the same business.
I'm so obsessed with the minutae of RH I think a detailed mapped out wiki is in order. There needs to be a record of every Maeve story, every Pat fairy tale, every sporting event attended by Frank and Bob, every throwaway address mentioned. Everything, including the x-rated stuff.

Hi Fia. Thank you and thank you for running this board. I was on the soapnet board too. I am obsessed with Ryan's Hope to the point where I want to draw a comic strip about it and call it Ryans Hope "The Missing Years" taking place during the 9? year jump. Question for anyone: what was the last story before the jump and how did it resolve, and what was the first story after the jump? Was there a special episode that explained the jump or did they just put "9? years later" on the screen and roll with it?

Fascinating.
I recall that a New Yorker poster said one of the photo of the hospital they used as Riverside Hospital in the early years of the show was NY's Flower Fifth Avenue Hospital
Have you listened to Malcolm Groome's (Pat #1) blog radio interview from about 10 years ago – he mentions how several months into the show they changed Pat from a playboy and made Pat closer to Malcolm own personality by making Pat more of a nice guy. BTW- he agreed that it would have been interesting if they had kept Pat as more of a ladies' man.

I've downloaded these and I was thinking of him saying that when I said it, if that makes sense. That interviewer does a decent job. Groome is a big hippie. He has some interpretive dance stuff up on Youtube if you look. I wish there were more RH interviews available. Who I really want to hear from is Michael Hawkins. I know he isn't a fan favorite but he's the best Frank IMO. All the other Franks seem uptight compared to him. A distant second was Kelly, who had some humor to him. But Hawkins was awesome. He gets so exasperated with Kristen's Dee it's hilarious. I don't care if he's reading from a teleprompter either. At least his performance feels alive in contrast to multiple-take phoned in modern soap acting (assuming they still make soaps). He was in a trucker movie around the time of RH that looks pretty good too. But yeah, good to know about that hospital. Need to look that one up. Gotta keep RH alive!

A Michael Hawkins interview would sure have been interesting!

Speaking of adult themes, why isn't there any interest in the fact, that Robin Greer was an actress on RH? I recently read her and her sister's racy autobiography. I actually bought the book to read about her sister, Liza's, account about her encounter with Vanna White.
After reading that episode, I forced myself to finish reading the book.
But don't worry. None of the RH thespians are mentioned in her book 'You'll Never Make Love in This Town Again.'

I've been meaning to read the book- just haven't got around to it. Oh well, maybe someday!
