Hey gang, I've got big news. I'm assuming this is news. Author Tom Lisanti is writing a book about Ryan's Hope. He's written some great books on 60's cinema and now he's set his sites on RH. I'm pretty sure it's as good as published because he has a pretty successful track record and his bio says he's working on it right now. I wrote him and pointed him in our direction since I never see him mentioned around here. Perhaps all of the diligent archiving (Safe&Sound) can be of use.

Thank you for the big news! IIRC, Tom used to post on the old Soapnet forum and he was a big RH fan. I have often wondered what became of Daniel Goldfarb's book about his wife, Nancy Addison, called "Warrior Princess." We heard it was completed several years ago but haven't heard anything more about it

I'd say it probably got shelved because I can't imagine there being an audience for it big enough to justify publishing it. It would just be a vanity piece if it existed at all. I know no one wants to talk about Dark Shadows on here, but if Lisanti could tap into the lucrative Dark Shadows fanbase then a Ryan's Hope book might actually reach some people, but as it is I see his upcoming book as more a labor of love than anything else.. printed record of a subject the majority of people including the majority of soap watchers will never hear of nor have any interest in. It's gonna be good though. He's interviewed quite a few people already.

I believe a good portion of the book was going to be about their love story. Daniel had stopped by the Soapnet message board once or twice and he also said he had cast members write some memories of Nancy that he was going to add to the book. That is a good idea to peek the interest of other larger fan groups like DS. I, too, have always felt that RH has a smaller fanbase but we are very loyal and have a great love for the show. Thanks, again, for sharing this news!

If it were me, I'd say forget the Ryan's Hope fans and package the book as one Dark Shadows fans would want to read. Then I could get a bigger page count than a Ryan's Hope book might garner and use the extra space to really fill it out with Dark Shadows Almanac-type material that focuses on Ryan's Hope minutia (and there's plenty of it). Dat's what I'd do anyways.
