Jumbo remarked to Mary that she looked like she could have the baby any minute. She said she was told about two more weeks. Huh? Ryan isn't born until the end of May. Perhaps, KM was due in two weeks.

Good catch.
I'm guessing Kate missed some episodes when she had the baby. Was Mary offscreen during this time. If not, who played Mary during that time?

We have a tempMary who portrays her in the actual labor and delivery of baby Ryan. I forget the actress - someone with a better memory than I will chime in.

Robin Mary Paris subbed for a handful of episodes. She actually subbed in an episode about a week before Mary had the baby. Kate starts an episode and then Robin takes over in the middle of the same show.

Robin Mary Paris how did you do that? Did you have the picture saved somewhere? Your research skills are astounding.

Nice to see you again, Kyle!I suspect that this discrepancy is mostly a function of Soap Opera Time. (Like when Mary and Jack went into the basement around Thanksgiving and emerged two days later, right before Christmas.) To me, it's a little odd that they would put anything definite into words here, when it would've been just as easy to say, "We're getting close to the homestretch," or some such.

Kate starts an episode and then Robin takes over in the middle of the same show. I didn't remember this! I'll sure be watching for it this time around.
I'm wondering what the voiceover will be. "In the rest of this episode, the role of Mary Ryan will be played by Robin Mary Paris"?
Editing to add that as irritating as I find KM's Mary, these fill-ins are never very pleasing.

I never realized until the cycle started over that Mary Ryan is basically an irritating character. But she was tolerable when played by Kate Mulgrew, who has a lot of screen presence and charisma. The temps and recasts didn't have that screen presence, so Mary comes off as just unlikable in those episodes.
Thank you for the quick responses and picture. I was wondering if they brought back Carol Richards (the previous tempMary with the shellacked, Mary Tyler Moore flip hairdo). Now I have my answer.
