I have what started as a tiny plant hi-jacked by my daughter when she was a college freshman (2001). It grew into a fabulous huge plant, but then I put solar film on my south-facing windows and the plant became quite unhappy. There are a few little parts that appear to be healthy and still alive. Do any of you know how I can take a cutting (or whatever) and repot what remains? I should not attach sentiment to a plant, but it makes me think of that era in my daughter's life. (She'll be 30 on Aug 29. Wow.)
Any green-thumb advice from the group?

Is Jade a succulent? If so, I think you can just take a cutting and put it in some soil appropriate for succulents. If all else fails google it.

I found this. I have this in pots around my house and never knew what it was! It can get quite large. Apparently it's very hearty as I never even water mine.

Fia, what kind of light does your jade plant get? I think mine got sickly because the (recently installed) solar film blocks all of the UV rays.
That was a very informative tutorial video. Thanks for posting it. My daughter told me a bunch of weird stuff about propagating that sounded very complicated (and may have involved witchcraft). This makes it look very straight-forward and logical.

I have a plant on 2 sides of my house. One is on the east side and one is on the west.

Diane, Larry says to try letting a cutting dry out before planting it.
Hopefully you have enough of your dau's jade to try a few solutions.
And you are well within your plant rights emotionally...

Just to let you ladies know, I potted the remaining parts of my daughter's jade plant (there were still lots of pieces that looked promising) using the method shown in the video posted by Fia (above). I will let you know how it does. Thanks for the hints and helps.
