There is good Ryan'sHopeism going on with this custody battle. We all know how it turns out, but for the life of me I don't recall the specifics of what exactly comes next. So I'm really enjoying it.
It's fun, too, to see Delia appearing perfectly coiffed and looking so good for the hearing. Her appearance is an intricate part of her M.O. She can look like two different people: the in-control woman, or the frustrated, crying little girl.
Today at the court hearing, she was looking in control. The only problem was that she didn't know when to be quiet, saying way too much, which exposes herself to the judge.
The in-control woman personna never stays put very long, as all too soon the hair clips go away, so Delia's hands may ruffle her hair as she wails.
It really is a fun thing to watch! Ron Hale as Roger and Ilene K. as Delia are delicious spectacles. =)

I agree Carol, this really is fun to watch. Like you, I remember the outcome, but don't remember exactly how we get there, but we will know soon enough.
As I watch AR as Frank calmly responding to the judge, I try to imagine MH (Plank) in the same scene and just can't seem to. I know it would be a disaster in comparison. And we the viewers would lose so much from this SL.

Yes, AR did a fantastic job today! One couldn't help but think about MH and how he would have stumbled thru that long monolog. Today's show was first rate, really.

AR made a few mistakes, but he did a good job. I just can't picture him ever being involved with Dee, though.

I agree with all comments made, the scenes were first rate(which is a great testament to Andrew & Ilene) what a horror it would have been to see MH "plank Frank" stumble and stammer thru these scenes,it would have killed the impact & effectiveness of these important moments(as we remember "wooden" Frank was butchering many crucial scenes before he left)

Yes, AR did a fantastic job today! One couldn't help but think about MH and how he would have stumbled thru that long monolog. Today's show was first rate, really. I agree that AR was wonderful today. I thought he particularly shone when he sat there looking kind of contemplative, kind of stricken, when Maeve described the time when the family's attention stopped helping Delia and started hurting her. When she said (paraphrasing) "especially the boys, Pat and Frank," the camera went to AR's face, and his expression was perfect.
He did screw up a major line, though. When Frank was questioning Delia, he should have said, "And a happy mother makes a happy child, right?" but he got the two (mother/child) reversed. IK paused for a moment, I suppose to see if the director would cut the scene, but then she plowed on. The line got repeated later, correctly. But it didn't make sense the way he said it, and I'll bet the writers were tearing their hair out over it. It was a great line, it made his case perfectly, and as well as AR did the rest of the scene, he blew that one.
