I wondered -- as Delia arrived outside of Roger's apartment -- when did Roger move to Reenie's old place?
SPOILER ALERT!!!
which is also Dee and Pat's future apartment

Hi Dusty, Clem is a great guy, and he's cute too. Isn't it really too bad that he never had a SL of his own??!! -Echo-

I think its a shame, as in my opinion he was one of the better actors on the show~I simply am amazed that he was ignored after being such a big part of the Colridge clan and their stor and I for one would like to have known what he knew about Jills adoption..ect., wonder also if Ed taking Clem in had an effect on Roger. Perhaps that is why he feels inferior and so needy emotionally needy??

I have often thought that they could have written a beautiful story line in which it was revealed that Clem was actually Ed's biological son. He and Roger already have a rivalry between them; imagine the dialoge they could share. It would have thrown Johnny for a loop as well. They could have mined that story for years.

It would have been terrific! I wish Claire and Paul had thought of it.

Ed's son - - by Miriam, perhaps?

The plot thickens! More use of underused characters!

It's an idea with much potential. In particular, Clem and Rog would have played off well against each other. The thing is Rog is a baby boomer. Clem is a little older - probably born in 44 or 45. Wasn't Ed away at war then? And even if he were home it would mean he was having an affair with a poor woman of color and not owning his son, which would have troubled many for many reasons.
But a few years later, with slightly different circumstances, it would have been a dynamite story line.

But a few years later, with slightly different circumstances, it would have been a dynamite story line. Miriam was Jill's nanny, and then Roger's, I presume, so that would have been a great plot. But I think it would have been a long, long time before that storyline would have been acceptable. It would have "tarnished" Ed's character for many people, and thus would have had an effect on all the Coleridge children. Still, I wonder what they were thinking putting Clem there in the first place, if they weren't going to expand on the story.

Actually it wouldn't even be acceptable today. I'm thinking of Schwarzenegger for instance, or Jefferson for another. It would totally have tarnished Ed's character. To be remotely acceptable on a soap the affair that produced the illegitimate child has to be far away from home.

I'm trying to think -- out of all the other soaps I've seen -- I remember Brandon Spaulding (Alan's father) had a black daughter whose own daughter, Vicki, had a storyline for several years. (I know on GL the question of having to add not just one love interest, but also a rival, led you to assume that whenever there were 3 black characters on the show, you just knew that they would form their own private storyline -- proving the quote about Clem's lack of love interests, above.) And Edward Quartermaine had an affair with Miss Mary Mack (or Mary Mae?) which produced a child or two. I'm not sure how or where he met her, though. Maybe jumping rope.

Idon't know anything about the Quartermaines. I think I remember the Spaulding story line. It involved a long term relationship with a woman in the islands, right?

Edward and Mary Mae had an affair during the war -- they met at a club where she was a blues singer. Unlike Ed though -- Edward Q. was known to have cheated on Lila -- many times over the years -- and with many different women.

I wonder why there is only floral arrangement (and zero get well cards) in Jack's room. According to Mary, there are so many well-wishers that she doesn't even know where to begin in passing along their messages to Jack (hint: they might consider starting with a visit to the local card shop).
I wonder why Mary, having just been advised that it will be days until Jack's severe pain abates even slightly, decides that today is the day to discuss the insurance issue. After Jack says that even talking makes him sleepy, Mary tells him that she hates to bother him, but.......................
Jack asks Mary to make it an easy question. She responds by asking about medical coverage (or, more precisely, the lack thereof). I wonder why she didn't contact Jack's employer to ask about a policy being in effect. Even if he has no coverage, his critical condition prevents an early discharge. Leave him alone, Mary...at least for now.
I wonder why Mary is choosing this particular time to complain about Jack's silence. The man can barely breathe without experiencing pain, and she is frustrated by her inability to initiate a discussion with him about his impending sexual dysfunction (but on the positive side, at least she has a desire to talk to HIM about his condition -- as opposed to everyone else in Riverside).
I wonder if we'll ever again hear Seneca Beaulac admit that he's not the ultimate authority on a subject. Today was a first! While speaking with Jill about a prospective father's right to be consulted when a woman chooses to terminate a pregnancy, Seneca admitted that he is "ticklish" on the subject. Ultimately, he concluded by saying, "But, it's legal. And who am I?" Ironically, he wasn't that concerned about the law when he pulled the plug on Nell.
I wonder if Dee thought she was having a discussion with Pat following the ambush lunch at Lems, or if she thought she was posing for a Playboy pictorial.
I wonder if Pat realizes that a mental snapshot is worth a thousand words. Does it not occur to him that there are always people coming in and out of the apartment? Besides that, he and Dee are in a living room -- not a bedroom. There's Dee, barely dressed, on her knees in front of Pat, arms clasped around his neck. Pat is sitting in a chair, and he's practically salivating over his barely dressed sister-in-law. Would would Maeve say? What would Johnny say? What would Mary say? Risky behavior, indeed.

I wonder...[/size]"I wonder why no one has mentioned the scene where Johnny and Maeve are re-arranging the pictures on the wall? LSU, where are you? This is your forte!"
I'm here, Rags! I'm here! You beat me to the punch. They moved those dead-Ryan family pictures around so much that they ended up where they started...w/the oval shaped one at the bottom right corner; the rectangular one still front and center. So much for Muh and Duh starring in a new DIY network program.
I wonder when (or rather...why) did Jill have on a black coat when she was conferring w/the abortion doctor, yet in the beginning of the next epi, she had only her shiny gold/beige blouse?
I wonder if anyone at Riverside Hospital (or in the whole town) is whispering behind Seneca and Bucky's backs for hanging around each other so much, even being seen in public w/a violinist serenading them at a restaurant? Two wealthy, handsome, male physicians who can't seem to have a female escort on their arms? Hmmmm.
I wonder if anyone on this board can picture the "original" Faith dancing w/Pat the way this 3rd one is doing w/ease. "Wrinkle-nosed Faith" couldn't put one foot in front of the other until Pat taught her at the bar...while Kenneth watched, of course.
I wonder if, when Jack whispered "Mary" while Sister Joel and his wife were both at his bedside, either (or both) of them thought Jack was talking about themself or the other woman in attendance with the same name?
I wonder what in the world kind of medical care Jack is receiving at a rate of $500/day, even in 1976? Since his injuries are severe and required extensive surgery, how much was Mrs. Mills charged for her "broken" hip? $74.29/day? What about Renie? All she did was take up a bed for dealing 'grass.'...say $28.18/day (excluding value of the grass)?
Roger's apt. is extremely short on square footage. I get that. With his being home all day long, longing for Dee, I wonder what he does during the hours when he has NO contact w/her? I mean, you can buff your crystal, shine your silver gravy boat, and polish your brass "fixtures" just so much. ;D
I wonder why Johnny needs a huge-assed cleaver to cut turnips before peeling them? Personally, I peel mine first, then cut them. Methinks Maeve better toe the line when ole John is angry...especially in the kitchen.
I wonder when we will ever see Siobhan? She misses Frank's near-death experience, Jack's near-death experience...oh and forget his and Mary's wedding, Frank's impending divorce, and LJ's 8 teeth. Even Mary cut her honeymoon short to return to comfort Francesco...what does it take to get her to Riverside?
I wonder how good and dedicated a pediatrician Faith can be when she refers her own sister for an abortion?
Dee and Pat get caught in a torrential downpour while standing outside of Roger's apt. I wonder why the chairs, trees, tables and decorations were bone-dry at the Medical Society dinner/dance when Faith and Pat went out on the terrace to dance...within an hour of the rain?
I wonder why everyone, Mary included, is blaming Jack for not having medical insurance at his job instead of Mary adding him to her policy at Channel R? Since she's so smart, wouldn't she realize that a freelancer usually provides their own coverage? I mean, she knows everything about everything else, right?
I wonder if she will provide Jack's physical therapy since she's "qualified" to do so? I also wonder if Jack would even allow her to touch him? ;D
I wonder how Dee can get away w/hiding against the parlor wall whenever anyone exits or enters? Don't any of these Ryans have peripheral vision? Guess not.
I wonder if anyone has realized by now that the parlor coffee table creaks everytime someone sits on it...which has been happening quite a lot lately. Use a chair, FCOL!
I wonder when Jill traded her green office phone for a black one (and vice versa)?
I wonder why Seneca doesn't dust off his cornhusk death mask to save Jack? ;D
I wonder how Mary knew the quart of milk was in the lower left fridge compartment when every other time she got milk it was in the upper right compartment?

Dee and Pat got caught in the rain on the west side of Manhattan. The dinner dance was on Long Island, probably 30-40 miles to the east. Although weather systems hereabouts tend to move from west to east, when it rains there, it doesn't always rain here.
