Thanks Judy and Susan, for the 'Congrats' on my reaching 1000 posts!! Last time I noticed, I had posted 800 some-how quickly they all add up, Susan you will be at 1000 in no time. I love Pat too, imo he is the best character on RH. He's a very good person and his flaws (as every character must have, as we humans all have them) don't cross lines of ever being selfish. No doubt that is why he is in the mess he is in. As always, I try to look at this from Delia's one note point of view, and it's ironic that in doing what she feels compelled to do-basically hounding Pat, so he loves her, she's making him want to run from her. Her brand ofinsecurty is so self destrucive as well plain destructive to anyone she 'cares' abuot. Sad but true. -Echo-

I was rewatching Delia's Plunge (and thanks for the shortcut to that very special scene) and it kind of hit me that Bucky, dear, sweet, innocent Bucky, seems awfully comfortable with pushing Delia into the water. In fact, I'm not sure that he would have attempted to help Dee out of the river if there hadn't been any witnesses around, err, I mean if Pat and Faith hadn't been there. Made me wonder if he has a history of this type of behavior. I wouldn't be surprised if the family had a nanny or two who mysteriously never showed up at work again all while Little Bucky was out fishing in the lake on his family's property. Did we ever see the name of Bucky's boat? It wouldn't be Slice of Life, would it?

OMG, Susan!!
That play and subsequent film scared the bejesus out of me!
I actually work with a 9 year old that scares me that much as well - we are trying to get him some help. He is 9 years old and falling through the cracks. We are losing our minds that he will "pass" on and "pass" on and eventually become a "Columbine Kid".
As funding to schools is cut, this is a major concern of mine...
So sorry for the negativity of this post.

Marianne Marianne, no need to apologize for your post. It's good that you're trying to get help for the boy. I remember when I was in 7th or 8th grade, the funding cuts meant I didn't get any more speech therapy. It seems that state govts are being penny wise and pound foolish. Is that the way that saying goes? California's system of education is facing more and more cuts from kindergarten up through the colleges and universities. It's so discouraging.

Susan, The Bad Seed is one of the scariest movies EVER! Patty McCormack was amazing in that movie. I remember seeing it as a kid and just feeling terrified in the hospital scene when we see that she is still around. And the lightning! I have never been so glad to see lightning in my life. This is one of the movies that never needs to be remade, IMHO. I know that they've tried but it just didn't have the same impact. This movie is a classic and should be protected from anyone messing around with it (also IMHO.)
Marianne, I've been in those shoes. It's so hard to see the collision coming and have to listen to everyone pass the buck to someone else. When will we as a society learn that it's much easier and more effective to be proactive than reactive? I hope this young man does receive the help he needs, both for his sake and the sake of those he encounters in his life.

I agree. No need to apologize for being caring and concerned. Teachers of special needs children see too much ignored or dealt with in the worst possible way, by the institutions that should be helping.

Marianne, best of luck to you with the child. It's best to catch them young and try to get them back on track. I have a friend with a teenager who has a violent temper and is in therapy, on meds.....but something just tells me he's headed for trouble when one day he cannot control his temper and snaps. I pray I'm wrong. He's been passed along in school even though he has learning problems and his parents "just want him to graduate." Then what? Forte, your "what if" about Bucky is great, who knows what went on in little Buckminster's past?

I think I spotted a snafu on today's episode #547. Right before Senecca entered the Pub you could see the shadow or figure of someone right outside the entry doors while Pat was congratulating Delia. Then Seneca enters the room. It appears that he was just outside the doors awaiting his que to enter the scene. Did anyone else notice?

I brought this up years ago on the Soapnet board, and I think it deserves another mention: One of the all-time greatest screw ups on the show has to be in an episode following Delia's faked miscarriage. I haven't got the exact episode number on hand, but it is a classic. It goes something along the lines of Bucky and then Roger figure out a number that Dee has used is for the OBGYN clinic, which the viewer knows would incriminate Dee for having visited there prior to entraping Pat into marrying her. Bucky enters the room and authoritatively says something to Roger about an "Ahb-gyne clinic", and you hear someone off camera loudly stifle a laugh. Then you actually hear the crewmember whisper the correct pronunciation of OBGYN, and Roger thoughtfully recites to himself "OBGYN.". Next to Jill(?) cursing off camera (what episode is that?) that has to be one of the most unintentionally funniest moments ever on Ryan's Hope.

You have a good memory. I remember the episode, but not the snafu you write about. I agree, it's a funny moment.
